BioQuest Update: Testing Has Begun on All Samples

BIOQUEST UPDATE Testing Has Begun on All Samples The science is now in motion.

Full-Scale Testing Is Underway

We’re excited to share that testing on all 1000+ BioQuest samples has officially begun at Nightingale Health, where they are conducting NMR metabolomics and Olink proteomics analyses. But that’s just the beginning. Additional testing will take place at OMF’s collaborative research centers:

Montreal Center

Our Montreal center will perform a cytokine panel, haptoglobin phenotyping, and immunoassays targeting specific molecules identified through previous research— including SMPDL3B, GDF-15, FGF-21, and BDNF. These tests will reveal critical immune system patterns and inflammatory markers, and validate existing findings.

SMPDL3B

GDF-15

FGF-21

BDNF

Uppsala Center

Our Uppsala center will carry out mass spectrometry-based proteomics and metabolomics, along with additional immunoassays—adding even deeper layers of biological insight.

About BioQuest

BioQuest is OMF’s landmark biomarker discovery project. With over 1,000 samples from ME/CFS patients, healthy controls, and disease controls, the project is designed to identify reliable, measurable biomarkers that can distinguish ME/CFS from other conditions. The ultimate goal is to develop an objective diagnostic tool for a disease that has long been diagnosed only by exclusion.

By analyzing these samples through multiple advanced platforms—spanning metabolomics, proteomics, immune profiling, and more—BioQuest is building the most comprehensive biological picture of ME/CFS to date. Powered by OMF’s global network of collaborative research centers, the project aims to uncover molecular signatures that reveal underlying disease mechanisms and enable disease subtyping, bringing the field closer than ever to a definitive diagnostic test.

★  In Case You Missed It

Health Rising’s Cort Johnson recently sat down with OMF’s Danielle Meadows, PhD for an in-depth conversation about the BioQuest project. They talk about the project’s goal, its scope, and why it matters so much right now. If you haven’t read the article yet or watched the interview, you can find them on Health Rising.
